Cox to Sell Systems

Cox communications may sell systems with about 900,000 customers in an effort to reduce debt. The sale would help pay down the $8.5 billion in debt the company incurred when it took itself private last year.

Cox to Sell Some Systems

Cox Communications announced today that it has hired investment bankers to explore the sale of some of its cable systems. An aggregate value could amount to approximately $2.8 billion, and is intended to reduce some of the debt Cox incurred when it recently took itself private.

Verizon Builds Without Franchises

The Cable Television Association of New York and a number of local governments have asked New York State regulators to stop Verizon Communications Inc. from working in the public rights-of-way if it does not first have cable franchise agreements. Verizon’s newest confrontation comes soon after it ran into substantial problems building out portions of Hillsboro County, Florida.
