Adelphia Transfers: The Next Three Weeks (Series Article 1)

Summer is upon us, so it must be the season for cable franchise transfers, too. It’s more than just chance . . . when big deals like Adelphia get struck, they are often announced in the first quarter or early second quarter of the year. Franchise transfer requests follow shortly thereafter, usually with cable operators articulating a goal of closing by the end of the year. This, of course, means a great summer for all involved.

So, here we go . . . while none of this is written in stone (evidenced by the fact that at least one target date has already been missed by the operators), here is an overview of what communities will be interested in during the next few weeks . . .
