Communities Served by Adelphia Need to be Aware of Recent Court Order
If your community is currently served by Adelphia, you need to be aware of an Order recently issued by the Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.
Many communities believe that any claim against Adelphia for a franchise violation can not be pursued because the company is in bankruptcy. That’s not the case. In fact, for Adelphia to “assume” a cable franchise from the bankrupt estate and later “assign” that franchise to another company, it must first correct its defaults. Communities must be conscious of the recent bankruptcy court Order, however, and meet the Order’s deadlines – otherwise, claims will be lost.
